Saints Peter & Paul

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

Mission Statement of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is to encourage the spiritual growth of its members, volunteers, the people they serve and benefactors; to encourage fellowship while serving those in need and to provide an opportunity to others to serve those in need.

Inspired by the Gospel values, the Society offers person-to-person service to the needy and suffering, regardless of race, origin, religion or gender.

We Can Help

The Saints Peter and Paul Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is here to help those in need within our parish boundaries.   Some types of assistance we are able to provide include:  Spiritual direction, Food, rent, utilities, clothing, furniture and referrals to other social service agencies.   This assistance is based on available funds.   The only funds we receive are from the poor boxes in church and special donations from our parishioners.   We do not receive any government funding or money from other agencies or businesses.

All of our assistance is provided through home visits, and no assistance is given from the parish office.   To schedule a home visit please call 520-327-6015 ext 3 between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.   Home visits are normally scheduled for Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

We Need Your Help

Catholic in character, the Society is open to all who wish to live their faith by loving and serving their neighbor.

There are no exclusions based on gender, age, race or ethnic background.   Diversity within a conference is both welcomed and healthy.   In the Ss. Peter & Paul Parish Conference we have members ranging in age from 18 to 80 something; men and women; single and married; students, workers and retirees.

Regular meetings of the Conference are essential and are held every Monday evening at 6:30pm in Madonna Hall.   At the weekly meetings, we have a spiritual up lifting by our spiritual advisor, schedule home visits for the upcoming week, discuss the previous week’s home visits, as well as any business of the Conference.   We try to conduct our business within one hour.

Person-to-person contact with the needy in their homes is the most basic and necessary Vincentian activity.   Person-to-person contact in other settings is appropriate, but the “home visit” is preferred.   Visits are always made by two persons.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers you an opportunity live out your Catholic faith, by helping the poor.  If you are interested please come to one of our Monday night meetings or call the parish office at (520) 327-6015

We Need Your Support

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Saints Peter & Paul Conference relies on monetary donations placed in the Poor Boxes near the doors in church or checks and cash placed in the collection baskets at Masses.   When a 5th Sunday occurs in a month a special collection is taken for providing help to the poor.

Also, clothing, furniture, appliances, household items, toys, etc. can be made to our thrift stores.   Call 622-2821 for a pick-up of your donations, or take your donations to one of our St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores.   Stores are located at 852 S. Sixth Ave. (at 18th St.) and 5426 E. Pima St. (west of Craycroft Rd.)

Our thrift stores provide our conference and all the conferences all over Tucson with the furniture and other items that we give to families.   Your donations are vital to this part of our ministry.
